Pastor Hurmon's encouragement for the week
With a heart full of gratitude, I want to thank each of you for coming out Sunday night to hear me share my heart and perspective about the last few months. Thank you for giving me and Rhonda a chance to share, thank you for giving us a chance to experience your love, and most of all, thank you for your continued prayers as we move into the future. I thank our LORD for pouring out His wonderful Spirit on all of us to facilitate the beginning of our healing and to anchor our hope!
One of our goals for the evening was to share as many answers to your questions submitted as time would permit. Although it simply wasn’t possible to answer each one individually, we wanted to make every effort to cover all of the themes submitted. Now that ALCF has had its congregational meeting and I have shared from my perspective, we believe that all the substantive questions have been answered. If you have a specific question that you feel did not get answered, you can email me at email@example.com. We're happy to address questions we receive within the next 7 days that were not covered at the Gathering. It's our intention after that time period to move forward and embrace what God has for us.
As I shared Sunday night, during the next six weeks, I’ll move into a time of healing and seeking the Lord’s guidance on his vision for next steps. Within this time, I’ll continue to share updates of how I’m doing on my website’s blog and on social media. Also, Rhonda will be choosing one sermon a week that we’ll post on the website. In addition, for those who are interested, a video of last Sunday’s Gathering is available now on the website.
We will all have the opportunity to get together again at the next Gathering to be held at Jubilee Christian Center on Sunday, March 9th at 6:00pm. I will share updates on where I feel God is leading for next steps. Please RSVP to join us.
If you would like to volunteer to help, you can do so on your RSVP.
For those who gave to help support us financially in this time of transition, we are deeply touched and grateful. We are also grateful to Jubilee for graciously helping to facilitate the receipt of gifts at this time. Although this is neither required nor expected, if you feel led to give, you can find instructions for doing so online on the GIVE page of our website.
If you would like to stay in touch and have not yet subscribed to our mailing list, please visit our Contact page. Finally, remember that we ended our time together at the Gathering with me encouraging you to enter the next 6 weeks intentionally staying connected to God and to one another. This means weekly participation in a worshipping community and in a Christian small group, like ALCF growth groups. We have provided a short list of worship options to assist you with this on our website.
I look forward to keeping in touch during these next few weeks and being with you again at the next Gathering on March 9th.
To the many who came out tonight or watched by live website streaming to hear me share my heart and perspective about the last few months – thank you. To the 80 plus volunteers who worked long hours into the late night and started all over again in the early mornings, without whom tonight would not have happened – thank you.
Thank you for giving me and Rhonda a chance to share; thank you for giving us a chance to experience your love; and most of all, thank you for your continued prayers as we move into the future. Finally, I thank our LORD for pouring out His wonderful Spirit on all of us this night – to facilitate the beginning of our healing and to anchor our hope!
Tonight my heart overflows with gratitude,
As I write this note to each of you, we are a little less than 48 hours from our gathering.
Sunday, January 26th, 6pm
Jubilee Christian Center
105 Nortech Way, San Jose
Please note: Because there is no childcare, parents are welcome to bring their children.
Since this will be the last email that you receive from me prior to Sunday night, I wanted to provide a brief update and set your expectations for the evening.
First, from the launch date of our new website about a week and a half ago, we have had an overwhelming response, and we are expecting an attendance of roughly 2000 people. Please give yourself some extra time so you can park, find your seat, and still be on time for the event. Additionally, some have indicated a desire to attend in person, but because of sickness or travel will not be able to make it. The good news is that if you go to my website's homepage at 6 pm on Sunday, January 26, we plan to have the event streaming live, thanks to the technical team at Jubilee.
Here is what you can expect on Sunday night. For me the primary focus of our time is to facilitate the beginning of healing for a community of believers tremendously broken due to the events of the past couple of weeks. We will have a rich time of worship and prayer, as well as significant time for me to explain what happened from my point of view and answer as many questions as possible. Once this is completed, I will offer some brief remarks about what my next steps are and then we will end our time together with Communion. All of this should take roughly an hour and a half. I am convinced that the Lord is going to meet us and do something special for all who are present. Additionally, many of you have asked about an opportunity to give love offerings, some of which will go toward the cost of this event. While this is not required nor expected, those of you who desire will have an opportunity to do so on Sunday evening.
We have received hundreds of emails offering your love and support to Rhonda and me that have strengthened, encouraged, and blessed us tremendously. Once again, thank you so very much. Rhonda and I are tremendously grateful for each of you and look forward to seeing you on Sunday night.

To the many who have posted notes of kindness, love, and prayers for me, Rhonda and our family during this painful season, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your remarkable outreach and support has strengthened us, encouraged us and carried us. And to those who are redoubling your efforts to pray for the ALCF family, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you even the more. Please keep praying and caring for the members of this one of a kind congregation, whom we love so much.
Many of you have signed up for the gathering that I am hosting on January 26th. Thank you. If you have not already, please RSVP. Here is the updated information including time and location:
Open Gathering with Worship
Sunday January 26, 2014
6:00 - 7:30 pm
Jubilee Christian Center

Childcare will not be available.
When you RSVP, you can also leave any questions you have about how we got here, and we will seek to answer them on the 26th as well as in the immediate aftermath of our time together. To each of you living in a place of deep grief, right along beside us, join us as we claim and testify to the truth of the Word of God:
"If your heart is broken, you'll find GOD right there; if you're kicked in the gut, he'll help you catch your breath." Ps 34:18 (MSG)
On behalf of Rhonda, myself and our entire family, to all of you - we love you back!
